Danny and I have been doing ¬†all of this pet therapy for a layer of reasons. We love training together, showing off dog tricks, and making others smile and feel comforted, but the roots for this project? It is for my Girl Scout Gold Award! I’ve just been informed (through a comment on this blog, actually) that through all of my endeavors, I’ve received the Gold Award!! I’m so pumped and I know Dannyboy is too!

Although I’m at college now, Danny and I are gonna try to do pet therapy when I come home for the holidays!!

Thanks everyone! Don’t go anywhere!

Today, Tuesday, 1/7, at 1:30pm Danny and I had our pet therapy evaluation. For those of you who don’t know, we’re trying to get certified through Creature Comfort to be a pet therapy dog-handler team and visit patients, families, and staff of all ages at hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other facilities to spread some smiles!

Our test got postponed a few times, but today I drove myself out of school, got home, grabbed Dannyboy’s vet and town vaccination records (and Danny, of course!) and raced to K9 Campus (where we’ve been taking obedience classes). We haven’t been there in over a month, so I was nervous that Danny would forget his manners. Fortunately, he didn’t.

I had to fill out a few forms but there was a dog in the waiting room, which Danny doesn’t like. So I cleverly took the forms and filled them out in the car with my dog, which my obedience trainer Robin was very proud to hear I did. After I was finished, I carried Danny back inside and went into the training ring.

I’ll save the details for later, long story short, WE PASSED OUR EVALUATION!
